October 15, 2024 – Guided Arrival transfer to accommodation in Reykjavik

The guide meets the group in the airport. Our first stop is a refreshing breakfast at Viking World before we head to our accommodation in Reykjavik.

October 16, 2024 – Reykjavík - Borgarnes - Skagafjörður - Akureyri

Wild Icelandic Horses

The guide meets the group in the hotel in Reykjavik in the morning. We drive northwards via the tunnel of Hvalfjördur to Borgarnes and Skagafjördur, the valley of horses. A visit to the horse farm at Gauksmýri to get an introduction of the Icelandic horse. After the show, all guests are invited to visits the stables
and get to know the horses. Continuing via highlands, Öxnadalsheidi, to the capital of the north of Iceland, Akureyri.

October 17, 2024 – Akureyri - Lake Mývatn area - Mývatn Nature Baths - back to Akureyri

We enjoy the day at Lake Mývatn. Mývatn is a shallow eutrophic lake in a dramatic landscape dominated by volcanic landforms such as pseudocraters and the lava pillars in Dimmuborgir. We take a good walk among the impressive lava formations at Dimmuborgir. Mývatn is a geothermal area with high activity and a place where all your senses will be called upon as we stop at Námaskarð’s bubbling sulphur mud-pits and steaming vents. We visit and take a walk at the Krafla Volcano. We visit Jardbödin, the Blue lagoon of the North, where we take a bath in the blue waters. On our way back to Akureyri, we stop at Goðafoss Waterfall. October 18, 2024 – Akureyri - Dettifoss - Egilsstaðir - Breiðdalsvík

We leave Akureyri and start the day by visiting Dettifoss, one of Europe’s biggest waterfalls. After that we drive across highlands Mödrudalsöræfi, via the town of Egilsstadir. From here we head towards the sparsely populated and very beautiful East fjords. Here we find small fishing villages and magnificent mountains.

October 19, 2024 – Breiðdalsvík - Höfn - Glacier Lagoon - Skaftafell - Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Glacier

Driving along the East fjords dramatic coastline, passing Djúpivogur and Höfn. Not far from Höfn is the Glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. Here we take a boat trip on an amphibian boat in between the floating icebergs. The trip continues further on to National Park in Skaftafell. It is a beautiful, green oasis at the
root of glacier Vatnajökull. Here Iceland’s highest point can also be found (Hvannadalshnúkur, 2119 m). If the group is interested and if time allows, we can walk some of the interesting walking paths in the National Park, for example up to the Svartifoss waterfall.

October 20, 2024 – Kirkjubæjarklaustur - Vík - Reynisfjara - Skógarfoss - Seljalandsfoss - Selfoss

We start the day by driving past lava fields of Eldhraun and observing the black glacial deposits at Mýrdalssandur. We pass by Vík and stop by the black lava sand beach of Reynisfjara. It is known for its colony of puffins and unusual rock formations. From Reynisfjara you can view the impressing cape Dyrhólaey, where the sea has craved a huge hole through the rock. Next, we stop at the two waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. We walk behind the waterfall at Seljalandsfoss and up on the viewing deck
overlooking the impressive Skógafoss. Thereafter we continue towards Selfoss, via Hvolsvöllur and Hella.

October 21, 2024 – Selfoss - Golden Circle - Reykjavik

First visit of the day is to the majestic Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. Next stop is at the geothermal area around Geysir. Here we experience the active geyser Strokkur which erupts every five minute a high column of boiling hot water. It truly is a fascinating phenomena. We stop at the Fontana Geothermal Baths, we look at the Lake Laugarvatn where it is boiling hot from geothermal activity, see how bread is baked in the ground and we get to taste it. Continuing to the National Park of
Þingvellir, where the oldest parliament still in function was founded. From Þingvellir we drive back to Reykjavik.

October 22, 2024 – Reykjavík City Tour

Road Trip

After breakfast your guide will meet you at your hotel. After a 2 hrs City Tour the tour ends at FlyOver Iceland and Whales of Iceland
